Today, voluntary adoption agencies across the UK open their doors simultaneously to mark Big Adoption Day 2025.

Here at Adopters for Adoption our door is always open to help potential adoptive parents to find out more about the positives of growing their families through adoption.

All voluntary adoption agencies collectively strive to offer a personalised adoption experience to people from a wide variety of backgrounds.  Over our own 10-year history, 30% of AFA adopters have come from the LGBTQ+ community and 30% identify themselves as being from a non-white ethnic background.

VAAs also provide their families with lifelong support, which is flexible and responsive to what families need, whenever they need it. At AFA we were set up by adopters for adopters which gives us a unique insight into adoption and supporting our families by placing adopters and adoptees right at the heart of what we do.

AFA Head of Service Sally Heaven-Richards: “Today on Big Adoption Day 2025  we are pleased to share and celebrate adopter and adoptee experiences within AFA and to celebrate the work we are proud to do as a team. Nearly 30 years after adopting my daughter, I highly recommend adoption as the most transformative and rewarding of experiences.

If you want to find out more about adoption and AFA, please join us on our next virtual information session where you can find out about adoption, hear directly from one of our adopters, and of course ask us questions. You can sign up to receive your invitation here –  We hope to see you there!
