Who can adopt?
When applying to adopt there are only four requirements for adopting a child:
- You must be aged 21 or over
- You must be living in the British Isles
- You must not have convictions or cautions for offences against children or certain sexual offences
- You must have a spare bedroom available for your adopted child
Adopters for Adoption are an inclusive agency, and we encourage applications from all members of the LGBTQ+ community. In 2022, 1 in 4 adoptions through our agency were with same-sex adopters.
